Dânsâi

Dânsâi is inspired by an encounter with one of the many tree species Adrián Herrera discovered during his visit to Cali: Ficus elastica (Dansai Ichijiku), part of Colombia’s biodiversity. It also draws on the artist’s own research and perception of movement, whose wealth of possibilities pushes joint mobility to its limits through contemporary dance and acrobatics. The work explores the biomechanics and ergonomics of invertebrate marine species and how their possibilities and muscular structures can be transferred to the human body.
