Fond memories of clean clothes, freshly ironed cotton, games among laundry drying in the sun, clean hands and comforting dreams between soft white sheets. And coffee. Do you drink coffee too? It is reflected in your autumn too… Air, water, sun and coffee. The smell of coffee brings back memories. The smell of coffee, of warmth, tenderness, life… At the coffee table, restlessness returns… The desire to live rises from the soul. What do memories smell like? Some scents take us back to childhood, remind us of a place, make us feel better, bring moments back to life… This work is a journey of emotions through two scents: coffee and clean laundry. In María Lama’s words: “Café Y Ropa Limpia is also a small tribute to Campo Maior, my second home… When I enter the town, these two scents intoxicate and transport me… the scent of my childhood, of autumn afternoons and conversations, of Sunday mornings in bed, love and time standing still, a heart at peace…”
